Pure Palate is fueled by global traditions, customs, rituals, and authenticity. I have always been intoxicated by travel. When creating a meal, I’ll often recall an adventure to a Columbian produce market, a riveting article on the art of “blooming” Moroccan spices, participating in a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, or a dear friend who brought me home a wheel of the most tantalizing Parmigiano-Reggiano from southern Italy. Dreaming and visualizing a culture through its music, sounds, tastes, and local color is travel in its purest form. Whether in person (or in your mind these days), it is so enlightening to bring travel into your home and kitchen. And sometimes, the extra splurge on a truly pure ingredient (think EVOO straight from the Grecian countryside) can make ALL the difference between good and mind-blowing.
