Fall

Let’s get to the root of it (see what I did there?). . .autumn is best for late harvests and appreciating the bounty of the earth. Think late-season vegetables, like beets, chard, potatoes, radish, parsnips, kale, brussels sprouts, carrots, cabbage, squash, pumpkin, etc. Let me also pay homage to the stars of the fruit world, apples, pears, pumpkins, pomegranates, etc. I bring out my hearty spices, such as turmeric, cumin, cinnamon, coriander, and rosemary. I let spices bloom and grains toast until nutty. Let’s get dirty and explore wild game, specialty-cut meats, feral fowl, and beyond. From comfort foods to exotic stews, fall is the perfect time to satiate your natural palate.
